Thank you Gitty for being our first guest to submit a recipe:
So you know when you’re making Challah and you have some leftover dough? I was going to use it to make bilkelach, but I decided to try cinnamon danishes this time. They came out amazing!! I decided to submit it to Esti so that she can share it with you guys. I figured it was selfish to keep this gooey, awesome and irresistible recipe to myself.
Here goes…..
Left over Challah dough ( I make Rebbetzin Kanievsky’s recipe in the Bais Yaakov Cookbook)
1/4 Stick Margarine
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
2 Tbs Cinnamon
1 Egg
Glaze:
1 1/2 Cups Confectionery Sugar
4 Tbs Hot water
Dash of Lemon Juice
Roll out the dough into a thin square. Melt the margarine in a bowl and brush it on top of the dough. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon, and smear it around making sure that all areas are covered. Roll into a tight roll and cut into 1 inch slices. Arrange in an 8×8 pan, the slices should be tightly packed in.
Let rise for about 20 minutes and egg it.
Bake on 350° for 30 min.
Once they are cooled, you can glaze them.
Mix the water and confectionery sugar. It should be a thicker consistency, so add more confectionery sugar if needed. I add a dash of lemon juice for a bit of a lemony flavor.
Beware these don’t usually make it till shabbos!
Sincerely,
Gitty C
Thanks Gitty, these sound awesome and I can’t wait to try them!
Enjoy,
Esti
